Lake Erie Fishing Report 19 March 2014

Wednesday, March 19th, 2014

Ice fishing on Lake Erie is coming to close with spring just around the corner.  Most people are not recommending any activities on the ice right now.  There are more and more dangerous spots showing up everyday.  However, that is not keeping some of the brave ones from venturing out.  This past week camp perry was the hot spot for ice fisherman wanting to get thier walleye fix.  Most parties were 4-6 miles out with some out as far as 12 miles.  Pimples and raps were taking most of the fish while the action was hot.  Some groups were even getting some perch mixed in with the walleye.  Ice fishing in Erie PA is also coming to a close as fisherman reported bad ice in some spots.

Steelhead have been coming in in good numbers.  Now that some rain has hit the rivers are partially open so fisherman can wet a line.  Most anglers are using spawn sacs and minnows to hook up with a spring steelhead.

IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED TO BE ON LAKE ERIE ICE ANYMORE.  THE GUIDES HAVE QUIT RUNNING.  4 WALLEYE ARE NOT WORTH YOUR LIFE.
