Lake Erie Fishing Report 13 June 2014

Friday, June 13th, 2014

Walleye fishing is very good from the islands all the way to Geneva.  If you are fishing the islands the casters are using weapons up high, and the trollers are using spoons and crank baits.  If you are trolling speed is around 1.8 to 2.0.  In between rattlesnake and green islands has been good.  Kelleys shoal is the top pick of trollers in the area right now.

If you are fishing Cleveland on east to Geneva you need to go out 4-6 miles during the day and fish in close during the night.  Most fish are being taken on 2 oz. tadpoles and inlines, back 40-90, and a speed of 1.8 to 2.0 mph.

The steelhead have started to school up off Avon point also.  I will report when we start getting into them.

Perch fishing is starting to pick up in Ohio.  Out east it is on fire from 32 to 45 fow water.  Out west it has been a slow spring for perch, but the bite is starting to pick up now.

Sorry for the delayed reports…..have been out fishing not posting.

Memorial day weekend

Saturday and Sunday

Reefs back 60-120
Cheap sunglasses, firetiger, green flash
2.0 mph
26-32 FOW
Fish were stacked from Huron river to as far east of Vermilion as I went. Never ran out of marks. Tried meat, was not producing. Saturday boated a 32″ 11 lb. HOG. Limits both days, quick.

SE corner of kelleys. I hate fishing here but had a buddy in the area so I decided to fish there. I can’t get over the fact that there are constant 1-2 footers in between the islands because of the boat traffic. Drives me nuts.

Back to the report. Only pulled 5 eyes and 1 bonus steelhead. She was 28 inches and still had some left over eggs in her from the spawn.

Reefs back 55-70
2.0 mph
Cheap sunglasses and firetiger took all fish.
24-35 fow

This past weekend

Fished Sunday and Monday.
Cranberry to Vermilion

Reefs back 48-130
Morning high, afternoon deep.
Cheap sunglasses, barbie, green flash, and firetiger.
1.6 mph
26-32 FOW
20 fish total over both days

Perch reports are coming in very steady thru all channels.  No matter where you are docked at start in 32 FOW and look for your marks on the bottom.   A lot of guys are drifting for them, then anchoring when they catch a couple.  Limits are being taken now.  Will only get better.
