Lake Erie Fishing Report 23 NOV 2014

Walleye

The Walleye night bite is on!  Many anglers are fishing around east 72nd street in Cleveland in the dusk to morning hours having great success targeting walleye.  Trolling slow with planer boards and stick baits up high have been the most successful.  If you venture out at night make sure you are legal as in having the proper lights and safety equipment.  The water is getting cold again and can put you in danger in a hurry.  Also, do not go out at nigh unless you have a light south wind, that way you don’t have to worry about the waves.  The Huron pier area has been producing some walleye as well as the F can on the west side.  All walleye again are being taken trolling slow with stick baits.

Perch

The perch are in close, anywhere from 25 to 35 FOW.  Most are still using shiners, but frozen ones are ok also.

Steelhead

Steelhead anglers are doing quite well lately.  Egg patterns for fly and real eggs for the spin fisherman.  Fish the deep runs, this is where the steelhead will hold over the winter before they spawn in the spring.  Trolling the grand river mouth has been the most success I have heard about.  Trolling jointed rapalas seems to be the key, in firetiger color. Troll slow between 5 and 15 FOW.
